This Unit is coded by using the Blue Kenwood MASK Key Transmitter. When the unit is switched on, the word TRANSMIT will be displayed and will wait for you to press and hold the button on the MASK Key.

If you are reading this, then you have probably misplaced or damaged your Blue Mask Key. Replacement Keys are only available if you have the original purchase receipts for the stereo, and must be submitted to Kenwood with the stereo and an extortionate amount of money, so that they can check the serial numbers and issue a New Key.

We have found a cheaper alternative. If you order a Decode and send the Stereo over to us, we can reprogram the stereo and turn off the need for the Mask Key completely.

To remove the Radio, you will first need to remove the outer trim, this is simply clicked in place, but take care not to pull too hard in case the plastic lugs are damaged. Insert the removal keys down the sides and then withdraw the radio. The leads can then be unplugged.

Demonstration Mode
To switch off the Demonstration Mode briefly press the AUD button until USER PRESET is displayed. This will turn off the Demonstration mode for as long as a permanent 12V supply remains connected. This operation must be done before the Demonstration Mode activates itself. If it has already done so, simply remove the power for a few minutes, plug back in, and follow the above procedure.

Common Faults
It is not uncommon for the display or buttons to freeze or fail giving the impression that the unit is dead. The most common cause of this fault is the small flexible circuit board found behind the fascia that connects the fascia contacts with the main circuit board. Replacement of this flexible circuit board will generally cure the fault in most instances.
